Before Midwinter Ends

We first met once upon a midsummer.
Teasing smiles, warm sands, and saltwater.
In summer, you dive into my arms, my lover.
But in the fall, we fell apart—like leaves
dancing away from each other.
And now I am left all alone, bracing for winter.

If love’s a season, I guess that’s what we had.

Dear reader,

I know it’s cold from where you are right now, but I hope that you won’t stop doing the things that warm your heart. ‘Tis the season of festivity, but please know that you are not required to drain your spirit just to fill the cups of others. You don’t have to pressure yourself to completely heal from the wounds these past months have given you just because this year is nearing its end. And as our calendar turned its page to a new chapter, I wish that someday, you’ll overcome your wintry days. I wish that spring will come to you like a freshly brewed coffee, a melting snowflake, a newfound book, and a returning soldier to its homeland—to you.

Here’s to our peace and continuous healing, have a wondrous holiday!

Sincerely, Eiram.
